What are Dashboard Widgets ?
 The Dashboard is part of the interface of Mac OSX Tiger. Exclusive to Apple's innovative operating system, it is a kind of alternative desktop that appears instantly as you press a single key.
The Dashboard hosts nifty mini-applications called widgets that appear instantly and keep you up to date with timely information from the Internet. View stocks, check weather forecasts, track flights, convert currency and units of measure, even look up businesses in the phone book. Similar to Exposé, the Dashboard zooms across your Desktop at the click of a function key. Your favorite widgets appear with up-to-the-second information, then disappear just as easily, so you can get back to what you were doing.
Font Finderš 2.0 : enjoy TypeIndex.org through the fast lane !
 The Font Finder is a quick and easy to use Dashboard Widget that allows you to search the font you need directly from the Dashboard. With Font Finderš, you can browse the world's largest free and documented database of all fonts, from all the world, at the speed of light!
It is not only a handy device, but also a great time-saving opportunity : no need to launch your browser, click your TypeIndex.org bookmark or enter its URL manually, select a search type, and enter your query into the TypeIndex.org 's Quick Search bar.
All this can now be performed directly from the from the Dashboard : simply enter your search string, select one of the 3 search types (by Font name, by font author 's name or by Foundry's name, and hit return !
What's new with v2.0 ?
- Design is now more compact and handy, to occupy less room in your dashboad.
- Added a Random button, that shows 25 fonts from the index selected randomely!
- Added a Latest Addition button that shows the 25 latest font included to the Type Index.
- Back has been redesigned, to be more compact and beautiful!

Want some more good news ? Here it is : the Font Finderš widget is a freeware, and you can use it free of charge ! You can even distribute it to your friends and to anyone that has the same passion and needs for type and Typography. Only Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger is required.
Below are the installation guidelines :
If you are using Safari, click the download link below. When the widget download is complete, show Dashboard, click the Plus sign to display the Widget Bar and click the widget's icon in the Widget Bar to open it.
If you are using a browser other than Safari, click the download link below. When the widget download is complete, unarchive it and place it in /Library/Widgets/ in your home folder. show Dashboard, click the Plus sign to display the Widget Bar and click the widget's icon in the Widget Bar to open it.
